The Black Keys

I know its been awhile hey? Well here it is.....The Black Keys.
I had the chance to shoot this great group afew weeks ago. I did have my reservations though. I have never been nor will I ever be a fan of 2 piece bands. With that being said though The Black Keys really impressed me. They started with the full band and about 5 songs in they stripped it down to just the two piece line up that made them famous. With only a guitar and drum on stage it was remarkably full sounding. I didnt miss hearing the bass player or even keyboard player in the background.

If you are going to see a "show" or "spectacle" you will be let down completely. This band just comes out and rocks hard, no audience pandering just getting right down to playing their bluesy, soulful jams. Now the MTS centre would not be my first choice to see this band I would much prefer something smaller and more intimate like a small shitty jazz or blue club but I cannot ever see that happening in the near future. If you get a chance to see them play live take it! If you get a chance to see them in a smaller setting tell me and we can go together!!

Rammstein

Rammstein on a Thursday night in Winnipeg, MB. OH HELLS YES!!!!
This was one of the best shows I have ever seen in my life. Ok first off musically yea not my cup of tea but what an amazing show. Its like they took KISS to the next level a much, much darker level. Now I wont be able to post alot here due to contractual obligations but I will try to sneak some on here and there. This one is one of my favourites. When I have the rest up you can check them out on this site: http://musictourreviews.com until they are all up hope this teaser keeps your bottoms tickled!

Frank Turner at Winnipeg Folkfest Store

Now I have fallen in love with Frank Turners music a million times over. One of the few punk rock/acoustic troubadours. I have had the privilege in seeing him play on many occasions and this one was one of the best performances. Granted it was only 5-6 songs but with a small packed audience that came to see mainly just him and the fact he was playing on record store day made this performance that much better. Frank is a very quiet unassuming and humble man. He made his way through the crowd and was very polite to anyone that was in his way to the stage.

When he got on stage he is one of those few artist that can play with a live band or just acoustic and still commands your attention. It was a joy to see Frank play such a small venue and seeing him twice in a year had been awesome the only shitty thing is that because he played here twice this year I can bet we won't be seeing him again for a very long time. Until next time keep in mind.. I will not grow up!
